Congratulations Class of 2012! Welcome to the Real World!
You've put the text books, er, I mean, laptops, oops - iPads, away and are now in the job hunt. You are promoting yourself through LinkedIn and cleaning up your Facebook account so that any potential employer will see only the studious, benevolent individual that you are.
Your parents are getting a bit anxious to turn your bedroom into their "sitting" room. Soon, they are going to have the room and board talk with you. How much board is the right amount to charge? One parent I know said it best - when your young adult moves out, you know that you have charged the right amount of board!
Lots going on in your world, I know. Let me add one other item to your "real world" list - insurance. I encourage you to test out the insurance world of Flo, The General, and the Gecko. But before you make that final purchase, take a minute to call your local Independent Insurance Agent. He or she is probably someone you already know in your community. You can talk face-to-face, through social media, via texting or even a personal visit to your home.
Graduates, your journey into the Real World, should include a real conversation with a real insurance agent about real insurance issues and solutions.
Seriously, Graduates, you need to "get real"!
